Joseph Fleming

Co-Founder & CEO

Joseph Fleming is the Co-Founder and CEO of Straife, where he leads the firm’s strategic advisory practice. Under his leadership, Straife has built a multidisciplinary platform serving corporate and government clients across risk management, compliance, corporate intelligence, and national security — with offices in Houston, Washington D.C., Istanbul, Brussels, Tirana, and Kuala Lumpur. He is also a Partner at sister company Abbert Capital, where he served as lead strategic advisor on the pending $7.5 billion Aethon Energy transaction.

Mr. Fleming has advised international sovereign clients — including the governments of Pakistan, Libya, and Yemen — as well as a diverse range of multinational corporations on cross-border M&A, strategy, and corporate compliance, with particular depth across the MENA region, Asia, and Eastern Europe. This background informs Straife’s approach to integrating geopolitical insight with technical expertise to help clients navigate complex operating environments.

Before founding Straife, Mr. Fleming served as Executive Vice President at an international management consulting firm, where he oversaw strategic advisory for risk, intelligence, investigations, and compliance teams and advised government and corporate clients on UN sanctions compliance, FATF-related matters, and other complex regulatory issues.

Earlier in his career, he led the internal M&A team at an NYSE-listed healthcare company, managing the full acquisition lifecycle — from deal origination and due diligence to negotiation, capital raises, and closing — contributing to the acquisition of over a dozen facilities. He has also held positions at private equity firms and publicly listed energy companies with operations in North America, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Mr. Fleming holds a BS from the University of Houston.
