Murat Seyrek

Senior Advisor

Dr. Murat Seyrek is a Brussels-based expert on EU regulations, with a particular focus on ESG and sustainability, critical raw materials, forced labor, and the EU Green Deal. He helps clients understand complex and evolving EU regulatory and policy frameworks, identifying both risks and opportunities arising from existing, new, and forthcoming legislation and policies.

With twenty years of experience in Brussels, Murat has advised think tanks, NGOs, international organizations, governments, and businesses across Europe, North America, the MENA region, and Asia. He has extensive experience in designing and implementing projects and programs funded by the European Union, the US Department of State, and UNDP.

In recent years, Murat has worked on a wide range of initiatives related to European legislation on sustainability, business and human rights, and forced labor. His background in and collaboration with NGOs, the private sector, and policymakers enables him to integrate and balance the perspectives of all key stakeholders involved in sustainability and responsible business conduct.

Murat is an Adjunct Professor at the Brussels School of Governance and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), a Senior Policy Advisor at the European Foundation for Democracy, and an Academic Fellow at the European Policy Centre. He holds a PhD in Social Sciences and an MA in European Studies from KU Leuven (Belgium), as well as a BSc in International Relations from the Middle East Technical University (Turkey). He works in Turkish, English, and French.
